Sapporo’s long green centreline meets its most familiar skyline marker at the eastern edge of Odori Park.
The Story
A landmark woven into the city.
Odori Park gives Sapporo a rare kind of breathing room: a 1.5-kilometre ribbon of lawns, fountains, flower beds, and public space running directly through the city centre. It changes character constantly, from snow sculptures in February to beer gardens, music, and summer evenings outdoors.
At its eastern edge, Sapporo TV Tower provides a clear visual anchor. From the observation deck, the gridded streets, the length of the park, and the wider city become legible in a single glance. It is an easy first stop, but one worth lingering over when the light is right.
For a private Sapporo itinerary, this is one of the easiest places to begin. Your driver can drop you at the park’s eastern end, meet you after a walk through the blocks, and continue smoothly to the Clock Tower, Red Brick Office, or a lunch reservation without the need to retrace your steps.

More than a green space, Odori is a civic stage. Its broad central path, lawns, gardens, and changing installations create a natural pause between the northern and southern sides of downtown.

Completed in 1956, the TV Tower sits at the park’s eastern edge. Its observation deck, around 90 metres above ground, offers a useful first read of central Sapporo and the long axis of the park below.
