The Story
A landmark woven into the city.
Mt. Moiwa rises close to central Sapporo, yet its summit feels distinctly removed from the city below. The route up is part of the experience: the ropeway climbs from Moiwa Sanroku Station, then the smaller Mo-risu cable car carries visitors through the forest to the top.
The ropeway travels 1,200 metres in roughly five minutes, opening broad views across Sapporo and, on clear days, toward Ishikari Bay. At the summit, the city grid, surrounding mountains, and the scale of Hokkaido’s capital become clear in a single panorama.
For a private evening charter, Mt. Moiwa works beautifully between an early dinner and a late-night stop in Susukino. Your driver can manage the timing around sunset, weather, and ropeway queues, then meet you at the base for a warm and unhurried return to the city.
